TECHNICAL INNOVATION

Even before our very first machine was finished we realised that the only way to survive in the tough environment of Plastics was, and still is, to supply the industry with the necessary equipment to cope with its varied recycling requirements. A continual development policy utilising the skills within Plasmac has enabled us to meet these demands. We have achieved this through our in-house manufacturing facilities which utilise the very latest hi-tech CNC machining equipment.

Rising energy prices highlighted a need for further gains in efficiency. A screw development program lead to the introduction of the revolutionary SST (Short Screw Technology) recycling screw. With an innovative new geometry concept, the SST drastically reduces the L/D ratio (thus minimising thermal degradation) whilst providing superior processing power. The end result is that Plasmac's range of recycling extruders, combined with our comprehensive range of proven ancillary equipment, make Plasmac the industry leaders in energy efficiency, machine footprints and turnkey recycling solutions.

To further enhance the performance of our equipment we decided to upgrade the electrical control systems. Our technical team looked at adopting existing market technology and several systems were shortlisted. However, we soon realised that the purest design path that satisfied all of our identified needs required a different approach. The decision to use Siemens was simple. Only Siemens could satisfy the requirements; our customers' need for global support and our own demands for a technical advantage. Following a rapid development program undertaken by both parties a simple, yet powerful, operator-friendly HMI system was produced.

This system has proved to be so successful that not only did Siemens use it as a case study for their marketing campaign, but we decided to fit it as standard on the entire range of Plasmac machinery. The system, in line with our development philosophy, has already received an update with the introduction of an even faster touch screen.

Why have three ranges of recycling machine; Alpha, Integra and Omega? Three reasons:—

1 – We recognise that each series has its own performance window but each technology alone cannot meet all of the market's recycling needs
2 – We do not believe the customer should have to compromise
3  – Being the only recycling manufacture to offer three different recognised reprocessing methods gives Plasmac the unique advantage of being able to offer the best recycling solution possible.

The advantage is clear...
